Abejide Quits ADC, Alleges Hijack by Mark-Led Faction
Leke Abejide, the House of Representatives member for Yagba Federal Constituency in Kogi State, has resigned from the African Democratic Congress (ADC). At a press briefing in Abuja, he said he helped build ADC into a national party but left after accusing the David Mark-led coalition of hijacking its leadership. He also congratulated the current chairman, Nafiu Bala Gombe, and wished him well in ongoing court battles. Abejide explained that his lawyers advised him to leave to protect his political future amid the party crisis. He has not yet revealed which party he will join next but promised to announce his decision soon. The move follows a Supreme Court ruling that reinstated the David Mark leadership after INEC recognised their faction.
