FG Launches Independent Anti-Doping Board to Strengthen Fair Play in Sports

The Federal Government has inaugurated the Technical Board of the Nigeria Anti-Doping Centre. This landmark step aims to boost fairness, integrity and transparency in Nigerian sports. Held on July 2, 2026 in Abuja, the ceremony followed the signing of the National Anti-Doping Act 2025. The new statutory body will enforce anti-doping rules under the World Anti-Doping Code and lead nationwide education campaigns for athletes, coaches and sports clubs. The Secretary to the Government of the Federation hailed the inauguration as a turning point. He urged board members to uphold professionalism, independence and accountability. The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports Development pledged continued legislative support and commended the administration’s highest-ever funding for sports development.
