Court to Decide on Defence Evidence in Chris Ngige’s ₦2.26bn Fraud Trial on October 14
The trial of former Minister Chris Ngige will resume at the FCT High Court in Abuja on October 14, 2026. Justice M.A. Hassan is set to rule on whether defence documents can be admitted as evidence. During cross-examination of the third prosecution witness, the defence sought to tender papers related to alleged contract awards between 2021 and 2022. The EFCC objected, arguing the documents were not certified true copies under Section 104 of the Evidence Act. The witness—part of the panel that investigated NSITF operations—confirmed his role but said he saw no direct external interference. The court has also scheduled further cross-examination for November 11 and 12, 2026.
