Former West Ham Winger Hugo Porfírio Spotted Working as an Uber Driver in Portugal
Former West Ham and Nottingham Forest winger Hugo Porfírio has been spotted working as an Uber driver in Portugal. The 53-year-old spent the 1996/97 season on loan at West Ham, where he made 23 appearances and scored four goals. He later returned to England for a brief spell with Nottingham Forest before ending his playing career at Al-Nassr in 2008. Porfírio also represented Portugal internationally, playing alongside stars including Luís Figo, Rui Costa and Vítor Baía. After leaving a scouting role at Sporting Lisbon in 2013, he largely stayed out of the public eye. A Portuguese influencer recognised him during an Uber ride and praised him as a humble and skilled driver. His daughter later described him as “a machine.”
