Tinubu, Atiku, Obi: The Forty Thieves of Nigerian Politics
Many Nigerian politicians treat parties as mere vehicles to power. They jump from one flag to another in search of the presidency and access to the treasury. Tinubu displaced AD’s Funsho Williams, formed AC and ANC, then joined forces in APC. Atiku left PDP when he couldn’t control it and launched ADC. Obi started in APGA, ran with PDP and Labor Party, then tested ADC and NDC. None of these moves reflect a real ideology. As Fela Kuti famously put it, this is the “You Chop I Chop Party.” It’s less about principles than who holds the purse strings.
