Saudi Convert Ahmed Joktan Says Christian Faith Cost Him Family and Home
Saudi-born evangelist Ahmed Joktan says his conversion to Christianity led to the loss of his family, home and 13 teeth after he was allegedly attacked for abandoning Islam. Joktan, who says he was raised in Mecca by a prominent Islamic scholar, memorised the Quran by age 13. He says his interest in Christianity began while studying English in New Zealand, after a dream led him to a church where he was introduced to the Gospel of John. After returning to Saudi Arabia with an Arabic New Testament, Joktan says his family discovered his conversion. He alleges that he was beaten, threatened and eventually disowned, but says he refused to renounce his Christian faith. Speaking at a Christian gathering in Houston, Joktan urged believers to share their faith without fear. He says fellow Christians have become a new family to him.
