House Speaker’s Adviser Urges YALI Fellows to Embrace Self-Empowerment and Excellence
Barr. Chimdi Neliaku, Special Adviser on Policy and Strategy to the Speaker of the House, urged YALI Abuja members to embrace self-empowerment, volunteerism and excellence. She spoke during a courtesy visit under the YALI Abuja 10-for-10 Legacy Mentorship Programme, an eight-week fellowship linking emerging leaders with professionals in civic engagement, entrepreneurship, public management, media and agriculture. Neliaku encouraged participants to take small steps toward impact, saying "If you believe you can create value anywhere, opportunities will come." Drawing on her own experience baking and selling cakes in secondary school, she stressed the importance of a can-do spirit and leveraging technology like AI and online platforms for skill acquisition. Representatives from LIDA Network and YALI Abuja highlighted the programme's decade-long impact, noting that mentorship has helped participants secure internships and jobs. The current cohort of 30 beneficiaries continues to build networks and leadership skills through this initiative.
