NAFDAC Links Easy Access to Sachet Alcohol With Banditry and Social Harm
NAFDAC Director-General Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye says unchecked alcohol consumption is contributing to harmful behaviour and wider social problems, including banditry. She said the agency’s restriction on alcoholic drinks sold in sachets and PET bottles below 200ml is intended to reduce easy access to alcohol, particularly among young people. Adeyeye acknowledged opposition to the policy but maintained that protecting children and limiting alcohol-related damage to the liver, kidneys and communities must take priority.
