NCDC Introduces Ebola Screening Measures for Travellers Arriving in Nigeria
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention says travellers arriving from countries with active or relevant Ebola Virus Disease transmission may be required to complete Health Declaration Forms. The measure follows the ongoing Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The forms will support surveillance, risk assessment, contact tracing and early detection of possible cases. Travellers from other countries are currently exempt. The agency said it is working with health authorities, airport and immigration services, state health ministries and international partners to strengthen preparedness. It urged anyone with relevant travel or exposure history who develops Ebola-like symptoms to seek medical care promptly and provide accurate information to health workers.
