Benue's N70bn Taraku Mills to Begin Test Runs in 35 Days, Technicians Say
Technicians overseeing the N70 billion Taraku Mills project in Benue state report that test runs will start in early August, within the next 30–35 days. They began work on the moribund plant three weeks ago after an asset audit confirmed that most key components remained intact despite years of inactivity. Led by the Group Managing Director of the Benue Investment and Property Company, Dr. Raymond Asemakaha, the team—including expatriate engineers Adilson Neres Da Silva and Henry Boager—confirmed that equipment such as programmable logic systems, power and water plants are ready for reactivation. They aim to restore the facility to full production on schedule. Once operational, Taraku Mills will process soybeans, maize, beniseed, and cassava to produce edible oil, brewery grit, animal feed, and industrial raw materials. Dr. Asemakaha urged local farmers to boost soybean cultivation to supply the mill. The revival aligns with the state governor’s vision to restore industries and create jobs in the area.
