Nigerian Forward Tijani Seals Permanent Move to Újpest FC

Nigerian Forward Tijani Seals Permanent Move to Újpest FC

Muhammed Tijani has joined Hungarian side Újpest FC on a permanent deal after leaving Slavia Prague. The 25-year-old striker impressed last season on loan at Nyíregyháza Spartacus, scoring eight goals and providing three assists in 15 league matches. Újpest’s sports director praised Tijani’s speed, strength and ability to solve attacking problems immediately. The forward says he is excited to embrace the club’s traditions and help achieve its ambitions. Tijani began his professional career at Baník Ostrava and featured for Nigeria’s U-20 Flying Eagles at the 2019 World Cup.

I'm not convinced a move to the Hungarian league guarantees career progression, given the bigger challenges in other European competitions.

Tijani should focus on maintaining his scoring rate in pre-season friendlies to earn a starting spot at Újpest FC this coming campaign.
