Christopher Okello Onyum is accused of posing as a parent, locking the gate and carrying out the killings in under seven minutes. Prosecutors say Onyum admitted the murders were part of a ritual sacrifice meant to bring him wealth. Court documents reveal he researched “ISIS beheadings” and nearby schools before the attack, evidence the judge cited as proof of planning. Onyum pleaded not guilty, claiming mental illness. The court rejected his insanity defense, noting the precision of the stabbings and his lack of remorse. A staff member testified she threw a child’s bicycle to distract him, saving one life but tragically unable to prevent the deaths of the others.
