How to Sing the Lord’s Song in a Strange Land
How shall we sing the Lord’s song in a strange land? This question from Psalm 137:4 speaks to a deep spiritual exile. Our souls can feel held captive even when we go through everyday life. In these regions of captivity, demonic forces mock our worship. They demand praise without freedom and joy without deliverance. Figures like David in the pit, Joshua in filthy garments, and Israel by the rivers of Babylon all knew this bondage. Yet Jesus entered those dark places and led captivity captive (Ephesians 4:8–10). He restores fragmented souls, brings joy back into worship, and reminds us that no region is outside his reach. If you feel distant or oppressed, you don’t have to perform. Be honest before God. Cry out with Psalm 130, “Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O Lord,” and embrace the freedom Christ offers.
