Uganda Says It Has No Active Ebola Cases After Reported Nigerian Case
Uganda’s health ministry says a Nigerian woman linked to a reported Ebola case travelled through Uganda after visiting the Democratic Republic of Congo. It says she had no symptoms while in Uganda and developed symptoms only after arriving in Nigeria. The ministry says Nigeria has yet to provide detailed travel and clinical information needed for further investigations and contact tracing. Uganda also says it has no confirmed active Ebola cases as of the date of its statement. I believe Nigerians should remain calm but demand transparency, effective contact tracing, protection for health workers and science-led emergency management. A public-health response must protect lives and must not be used to restrict democratic rights or fuel political manipulation.
