Juliana Olayode Opens Up on Prayers That Restored Her Bond with Funke Akindele
Nollywood star Juliana Olayode says she prayed to God for years simply to rebuild her friendship with Funke Akindele. In a chat with Chude Jideonwo, she made it clear that she wasn’t seeking another acting role alongside her mentor. She only wanted to laugh, visit and enjoy genuine camaraderie again. Juliana expressed deep gratitude to Funke for standing by her during hard times. “All those years, I prayed for our relationship, not for a film,” she said. “I just wanted the freedom to go to her house, greet her and have a good time.” The actress also revealed the childhood trauma she endured. She spoke for the first time about being sexually abused from age five to ten, and how sharing her story helped her find hope amid despair. Juliana recalled apologising to Funke in 2023 after a fallout in 2017. Since then, their bond has grown stronger. She has praised Funke’s box-office triumphs and even her generosity in supporting family during health crises.
