Super Eagles Defender Kevin Akpoguma Set to Join Frosinone

Super Eagles defender Kevin Akpoguma is close to joining newly promoted Serie A side Frosinone after the club reportedly agreed a deal for the centre-back. Akpoguma is expected in Italy for a medical before signing a contract that will run until 2028. The 31-year-old became a free agent after his contract with Hoffenheim expired. He made nine appearances for Hoffenheim last season, ending a 13-year spell with the German club. Akpoguma has earned eight caps for Nigeria after previously representing Germany at youth level.

A contract reportedly running until 2028 suggests Frosinone may see Akpoguma as more than a short-term addition.

The deal sounds close, but until the medical and signing are completed, it is better not to treat the transfer as final.

If the move goes through, consistent Serie A appearances should be the main target; that would matter more than the length of the contract.
