Former Cambridge Professor Jason Arday Found Dead in South London at 41

Former University of Cambridge professor Jason Arday, 41, was found dead at an address in Battersea, south London, on Friday afternoon. Metropolitan Police said emergency services were called at about 3:12pm and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Police described the death as unexpected but not suspicious. His next of kin have been informed, and a report will be prepared for the coroner. Authorities have not indicated that criminal activity or suicide was involved. Arday resigned from Cambridge nine days earlier while the university was reviewing allegations about attribution in parts of his academic work and questions about aspects of his professional record. He acknowledged errors but denied deliberately misrepresenting his achievements. His appointment as a sociology of education professor in 2023 drew attention for his work on race, inequality and representation in higher education.
