Spain’s rising star Lamine Yamal says facing Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal in the World Cup Round of 16 would be an honour. The 18-year-old was named Man of the Match after Spain’s 3-0 win over Austria in the Round of 32. Though he didn’t score, Yamal constantly threatened the defence with his pace and skill. “I don’t care who we face, it would be an honour to play against Cristiano,” he said. “I am focused on winning the game.” Spain now prepare for a tough tie with Portugal, who advanced thanks to a late goal by Gonçalo Ramos.

It's impressive that Yamal earned Man of the Match without scoring, and his constant threat on the wing shows real maturity for his age.

I get the honour aspect, but stepping up against Ronaldo brings immense pressure that might overwhelm someone with only one big match so far.

Yamal's coaches should focus on simulating high pressure scenarios during training to prepare him tactically and mentally for Portugal's experienced backline.
