Group Warns NFF Congress Aspirants Against Ethnic Campaigns and Court Action
The Civil Society Network for Good Governance has urged candidates in the Nigeria Football Federation’s September 27 elective congress to avoid ethnic appeals, unverified presidential endorsement claims and corruption allegations that have not been formally substantiated. The group warned that court actions aimed at stopping or overturning the congress could expose Nigerian football to FIFA sanctions. It advised anyone with credible evidence of financial wrongdoing to submit it to relevant anti-corruption agencies through verifiable channels. It also called on the National Sports Commission, security agencies, delegates and the media to protect a fair electoral process. According to the group, the contest should focus on candidates’ records, ideas and plans for improving Nigerian football.
