Opeyemi Famakin Urges Focus on Counterfeit Goods, Not Ethnic Blame
Food critic Opeyemi Famakin has urged Nigerians to focus on the health risks posed by counterfeit consumables instead of turning the issue into an ethnic argument. In a video shared online, he alleged that counterfeit drinks, alcohol and other products are widely distributed across the country. He said the problem affects Nigerians of every ethnic background and called for stronger action against those producing and selling fake goods. Famakin said his remarks were aimed at alleged counterfeiters, not the Igbo community. He also said NAFDAC was making efforts to tackle the problem but could improve its enforcement.
