Tinubu Greenlights Five New Deep Seaports as South-East Region Misses Out

The federal government has approved certification and compliance processes for five new deep seaport projects in Nigeria. The proposed ports are Badagry (Lagos), Olokola (Ondo), Ibom (Akwa Ibom), Bakassi (Cross River) and Bonny (Rivers). Officials note that over 70% of Nigeria’s cargo is handled abroad. These new ports could ease congestion, create jobs, attract investment and boost the economy.
