Boniface Told What He Must Do to Reclaim Bayer Leverkusen Spot

Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface is working to revive his Bayer Leverkusen career after a difficult loan spell at Werder Bremen, where injuries restricted him to 11 Bundesliga appearances without a goal. The 25-year-old underwent knee surgery in January and returned to Leverkusen this summer needing to rebuild his fitness and confidence. He has shown encouraging signs in pre-season, but remains behind Patrik Schick and Christian Kofane in the race for a centre-forward role. Coach Carles Martínez says Boniface understands what is required to regain his place, while sporting director Simon Rolfes believes his recovery is progressing steadily. Boniface has also thanked Leverkusen supporters for standing by him during a challenging period.

Eleven appearances without a goal looks rough, but injuries can disrupt rhythm badly. His recovery will likely matter as much as any immediate scoring return.

A sensible route is steady fitness, regular training availability, and making the most of each chance before expecting a major role at Leverkusen.
