COPDEM Bauchi Chair Warns Nigeria’s Elections Are Decided in Court, Not at the Polls

During a recent broadcast on Diaspora Digital Media, the Bauchi State chairman of COPDEM warned that Nigeria’s electoral process has become too judicialized. He noted that court rulings increasingly determine outcomes instead of votes cast at the polling units. He expressed concern that this trend is undermining public confidence in democratic institutions. The chairman said disputes that should be resolved transparently on election day are prolonged by legal battles. Highlighting the approach of the 2027 general elections, he urged reforms to strengthen electoral credibility, cut down post-election litigation, and ensure the will of the people is clearly reflected in final results.
