Bendancer Takes On 168-Hour Dance Marathon to Chase Guinness World Record

Nigerian dancer and choreographer Benjamin Daniel Gabriel, known as Bendancer, is attempting a 168-hour dance marathon at Freedom Park in Lagos. The challenge is aimed at surpassing the current 127-hour record for the longest dance marathon by an individual. The 33-year-old has incorporated Afrobeats, fuji, jazz and other genres into the performance, alongside traditional Nigerian outfits. He says the marathon is also a platform to celebrate Nigeria’s cultural diversity and African dance. Bendancer is taking permitted rest breaks, staying hydrated and receiving medical supervision throughout the attempt. Supporters have turned out at the venue to cheer him on, but Guinness World Records must review the evidence before any new record can be officially confirmed.
