Oyo Governor and Olubadan Dismiss Fayose’s Rumour of Deposition Plot
Governor Seyi Makinde and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, have both rejected claims of a plan to remove the monarch from his stool. Their media aides issued statements on Sunday calling the allegation unfounded. The denial followed a post by former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose, who alleged that Makinde intended to sack Ladoja and even questioned the monarch’s absence from a recent chieftaincy ceremony. Oyo’s Information Commissioner, Dotun Oyelade, said the government never considered such action and warned Nigerians against believing unverified reports. Adeola Oloko, the Olubadan’s aide, also described the assertion as mere rumour. He stressed there is no conflict between the governor and the traditional ruler and urged the public to ignore unfounded speculation.
