The federal government is working towards addressing the basic ASUU demand within 7 days.
We recall that ASUU has given a 3weeks ultimatum to the federal government to meet up with the agreement reached or the union will commence a strike.
ASUU's demand
N30 billion should be released as part of the first tranche of Universities Revitalisation fund.
The union also demanded the release of N22.12 billion which is to be paid to its members as earned allowances.
The union stood their ground that the University Transparency Accountability Solutions (UTAS) should be implemented and also a re-negotiation of the 2009 agreement between the union and the Federal government.
The speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep Femi Gbajabiamila organised a tripartite meeting and the minister of finance, Mrs Zainab Ahmed disclosed the commencement of the federal government to meet ASUU's demand.
Mr Gbajabiamila said that the consequences of interrupting the education process were enormous and that the unintended consequences were more deadly and no amount of money put to education is too much.
