MOUAU Launches Nigeria’s First Manufacturing Technology Innovation Hub
Nigeria’s first Manufacturing Technology University Innovation Pod (Manu-Tech UniPod) has been officially inaugurated at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike. The initiative brings together the Federal Government, UNDP, TETFund and the Abia State Government. Through a representative, the Vice President described the UniPod as a strategic investment to drive innovation, entrepreneurship and industrial competitiveness. He said universities must become centres for enterprise development and technology transfer to help achieve a $1 trillion economy by 2030. Abia State Governor Alex Otti noted that hosting the hub reflects confidence in the state’s potential as an engine of growth. UNDP officials added that the Innovation Pod will unlock youth creativity, support startups and advance Africa’s industrial transformation. The Vice-Chancellor of MOUAU called the launch a defining moment in the university’s history and a milestone for research commercialisation and job creation.
