NBA Ibadan to Boycott Oyo Judiciary’s New Legal Year Ceremony Over Bar Chairman’s Exclusion

The Nigerian Bar Association, Ibadan Branch, says it will boycott the Oyo State Judiciary’s 2026/2027 New Legal Year ceremonies after the judiciary reportedly excluded the branch chairman’s traditional address. The branch said members reached the decision unanimously at a general meeting. It argued that the annual ceremony should allow the Bar to raise concerns about the justice system and judicial efficiency. NBA Ibadan will instead hold an independent New Legal Year celebration on Monday at the Aare Afe Babalola Bar Centre in Ibadan. Members are expected to attend in full wig and gown.
