Children of Blood and Bone Trailer: Tems, Ayra Starr and RMD Feature in Fantasy Epic
The first trailer for the highly anticipated film adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi’s Children of Blood and Bone has been released ahead of its cinema debut on 17 January. The project has drawn controversy since it was announced, including criticism of Amandla Stenberg’s casting as a character described as dark-skinned in the books. Adeyemi, who is credited as a co-writer, has also publicly distanced herself from the production. The trailer opens with Tems’ voice, fitting her role as executive music producer and soundtrack curator. Director Gina Prince-Bythewood brings the fictional kingdom of Orïsha to life, while Damson Idris appears as Prince Inan, who struggles with his father’s anti-magic legacy. Ayra Starr, Richard Mofe-Damijo and Chiwetel Ejiofor also make appearances. Ayra Starr’s role remains undisclosed, but the trailer has raised expectations for a star-studded adaptation of the popular fantasy novel.
