Mother Dies by Suicide After Infant Drowns in Bucket

Pratibha, a 29-year-old software professional in Bengaluru, ended her life after her 11-month-old son, Agastya, accidentally drowned in a bucket of water. The tragedy occurred on April 1 when she briefly left him alone to collect clothes on the terrace. Overcome with guilt and grief, Pratibha first attempted to harm herself by taking pills and cutting her wrists. When that did not succeed, she hanged herself. Her husband, Mahantesh, discovered both bodies around 6:30 pm after finding the door locked from the inside. Investigators found a note in which Pratibha said she felt responsible for the accident. Police have filed a case and are continuing their inquiries. The family had lived in the rented flat for four years, authorities added.
