PFN President Vows Christians Will Continue Preaching in Commercial Buses Despite FRSC Restriction

Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria president Bishop Francis Wale Oke says Christians will continue preaching in commercial buses and taxis, despite road traffic provisions that prohibit activities considered distracting to drivers and passengers. In a video circulated on Monday, Oke called the restriction an “evil decree” and said authorities would need to build more prisons if they attempted to arrest Christians for evangelising in public transport. He argued that lawmakers should focus more on violent crime, including kidnapping, banditry and rape. The Senate has said the restriction is not a new provision in the proposed amendment to the Federal Road Safety Commission Act. According to the Senate, the offences have existed since 2007 and are intended to protect commuters and prevent distractions. It also said preaching remains permitted on streets and in other public places.
