Delta Governor’s Aide Calls Peller and Jarvis’ Wedding Overhyped

Ossai Ovie Success, an aide to the Delta State governor, has criticised the widely publicised wedding of TikTok personalities Peller and Jarvis, describing it as overrated and overhyped. Although he said he was invited but could not attend because of other engagements, he said videos from the event left him disappointed. He argued that the decor, setup and overall atmosphere did not match the “historic” event promoted before the ceremony. He also pointed to reported crowd-control problems, late arrivals and a chaotic entrance. According to him, excessive pre-wedding publicity shifted attention from the couple’s union to branding, drama and clout. He advised the young couple to focus on building their marriage beyond the publicity surrounding the wedding.

What makes a wedding overhyped in this case: the publicity around it, the guest list, or expectations people built online?

Calling it overrated seems unfair without attending; plenty of people enjoy following public weddings, and that does not automatically make them excessive.

Public figures should expect opinions, but couples can protect their peace by focusing on their celebration rather than every online reaction.
