Nigeria Rises to Ninth on All-Time Commonwealth Games Medal Table

Nigeria has moved into ninth place on the all-time Commonwealth Games medal table, with 271 medals: 82 gold, 84 silver and 105 bronze. The result places Nigeria among only nine countries to have won more than 250 medals at the Games. Nigeria is also the highest-ranked West African country in the competition’s history, while Kenya is the only other African nation in the top 10. At the Glasgow 2026 Games, Samuel Ogazi won Nigeria’s first men’s Commonwealth 400m title in a Games-record 44.25 seconds. Ella Onojuvwevwo also claimed bronze in the women’s 400m with a time of 51.00 seconds. Australia lead the all-time standings, followed by England and Canada. The remaining top 10 includes New Zealand, India, Scotland, South Africa, Wales, Nigeria and Kenya.
