Federal High Court Grants N5 Million Bail to Blogger Justice Crack
The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to popular blogger and influencer Justice Chidebere, known as Justice Crack. He was ordered to deposit N5 million with one surety of equal value while facing cybercrime charges brought by the Department of State Services. The defendant’s initial bail hearing was delayed after two lawyers each claimed to represent him. On Monday, the court resumed and admitted the DSS’s first witness, Uruntu Douglas, who described how an extrajudicial statement and data from Crack’s phone were obtained in DSS custody. Evidence from the blogger’s social media accounts was tendered, showing posts about soldiers’ welfare. Defence counsel objected to admitting a flash drive and the phone, citing lack of disclosure of their contents. The charge, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/253/2026, accuses him of circulating false information capable of inciting unrest after posting a viral video on his X handle alleging inadequate feeding of Nigerian soldiers. The Attorney-General has now taken over the prosecution from the DSS.
