Edo Governor Orders Public Execution for Convicted Kidnappers
Governor Monday Okpebholo has warned kidnappers, cultists and violent offenders in Edo State that anyone convicted will face swift trial and public execution. Speaking at a parade of suspects in Benin City, he announced a special court to conclude proceedings within two weeks. Convicted criminals will be taken to Ring Road roundabout for execution in view of the public. Okpebholo rewarded police officers with ₦10 million for arresting a suspect linked to last Sunday’s vegetable market kidnapping. One suspect was neutralised and two remain at large. He also praised President Tinubu’s security funding and urged Edo residents to avoid crime. “You will be arrested and prosecuted. This land will be safe,” he said.
