NFF Panel Alleges Officials Interfered in Player Selection and Coach Appointments

NFF Panel Alleges Officials Interfered in Player Selection and Coach Appointments

An NFF fact-finding committee has alleged that some federation officials interfered in national-team player selection, coach recruitment and player transfers. The panel said the allegations pointed to roles that should be handled by the federation’s technical department. Committee chairman Fanny Amun said the review examined Nigeria’s recent international performances, including the Super Falcons’ WAFCON campaign. It also considered concerns over inadequate preparation, late arrival at the tournament, unequal allowances, unrestricted access to team camps and alleged influence by football agents. The panel recommended clearer duties for technical officials, earlier team preparation, fitness-based player selection, stronger medical coordination and reforms to the NFF statutes and domestic leagues. It also called for improved youth development, referee welfare, technology-driven player registration and better oversight of football administration.
