Ekwulobia Diocese Marks 109th Fatima Anniversary with Vibrant Marian Procession
Sunday’s celebration brought the faithful of Ekwulobia together to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary and mark the 109th anniversary of the Fatima apparitions. The Rosary procession began at St. Vincent’s Church in Amesi and concluded at St. Joseph’s field, where a grotto was blessed and consecrated. Under the theme “Do Whatever He Tells You,” Cardinal Peter Okpalaeke led a High Mass during which he emphasized prayer, repentance and devotion to Mary as pathways to peace and salvation. He urged families to revive daily prayer and entrust their needs to Mary’s guidance. Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, who sponsored the event, shared how his pilgrimage to Fatima deepened his faith. His support also funded the launch of an Igbo-language rosary booklet and audio-visual guide, freely distributed to participants. The day’s highlights included the renewal of consecration, the Litany of Saints and a sacred encounter in the Eucharist, leaving many inspired to deepen their devotion and obedience to God.
