Brighton Sign Nigerian Teen Forward Valentin Joseph From Blackburn

Brighton & Hove Albion have signed Nigerian forward Valentin Joseph from Blackburn Rovers. The 18-year-old joins the Seagulls on a three-year deal after agreeing to end his contract with Blackburn. Joseph is Brighton’s second Nigerian youth signing of the summer, following Zadok Yohanna. While Yohanna has joined the first-team squad, Joseph will initially link up with Brighton’s Under-21 side. The striker scored 21 goals in all competitions for Blackburn last season. He also finished as the FA Youth Cup’s top scorer with nine goals and recorded seven goal involvements in 18 Under-21 appearances across three competitions.

The signing sounds promising, but a three-year contract alone does not tell us how quickly he will be involved with Brighton's senior side.

For Joseph, the important next step is settling in and making the most of Brighton's development setup before expectations get too high.
