IGP Disu Launches Nationwide Crackdown on Vehicles Without Plates

IGP Disu Launches Nationwide Crackdown on Vehicles Without Plates

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has directed police units across Nigeria to stop, impound, and sanction any vehicle found without approved registration plates or with tampered details. Disu issued the order at a recent strategic conference at the Force Headquarters in Abuja. He stressed that unregistered or obscured number plates pose a serious threat to public safety and aid criminal activity. The Force’s public relations office said all commands must begin immediate enforcement operations. Owners of offending vehicles will face legal procedures under existing laws. Vehicle owners have been warned to comply fully with registration requirements. The police affirmed they will treat all violators equally, with no preferential treatment.

This isn't the first time the IGP has rolled out such directives, yet plate-less vehicles still roam major highways.

I see fine intention, but e no easy to stop every unregistered car without more police manpower on the roads.

Drivers should double-check their registration plates before hitting the road and keep proof of vehicle ownership handy during inspections.
