Seven Killed, Several Injured in Stampede at Shiva Temple in India
At least seven Hindu devotees were killed and more than 10 others seriously injured in a stampede near the Ashok Dham Shiva temple in Lakhisarai, eastern India. The incident happened around 6:30 a.m. on Monday during the holy month of Shravan, when thousands of worshippers had gathered for prayers. Reports of a fallen electricity pole and possible electrocution triggered panic among people in the queue. As worshippers ran for safety, a barricade reportedly collapsed, causing people to fall and be trampled. Officials said the death toll could rise, while the state government announced compensation for the families of those killed.
