My Wife Is Angry That I Told My Family About the ₦5m I Gave Her for Business
I have been married for two years and six months. My wife has not been working, so I sold a piece of land, kept ₦1 million, and gave her ₦5 million to start a business in December. Within minutes of receiving it, she lent ₦1.5 million to a friend and saved the remaining money pending December. While speaking with my mother, I mentioned that I had given my wife money for a business, although I did not disclose the amount. My mother had been asking me for ₦5,000 to send to her own mother in the village, but I had not been able to assist her at the time. When I told my wife that my family knew about the business money, she became upset and said I should not discuss money I give her with my relatives. I feel hurt because I have also supported her mother and bought my wife several phones, while my own mother still uses a basic phone. My wife took the Android phone I intended to give my mother and has refused to release her older phone for my mum. Am I wrong for telling my family that I supported my wife’s business plans, or is her reaction justified?
