China Warns US: ‘Don’t Touch Our Ships in the Strait of Hormuz’
China has condemned the US naval blockade of Iranian ports as “irresponsible and dangerous.” Beijing says the move risks undermining a fragile ceasefire and jeopardising shipping through the critical Strait of Hormuz. Iran’s UN ambassador labels the blockade a grave violation of Tehran’s sovereignty. Although Chinese vessels have continued to pass through the strait, it remains unclear if they paid any toll to Iran for safe transit. Beijing warns the blockade could disrupt its supply chains and hurt its economy. China urges all parties to honour ceasefire terms, resume peace talks and restore normal traffic in the strait as soon as possible. The US has also threatened 50% tariffs on Chinese goods if Beijing provides military assistance to Tehran. China’s foreign ministry vows resolute countermeasures against any punitive trade action.
