Reported Abduction of NYSC Members on Mbaise Road Raises Security Concerns
A reported abduction involving more than 25 prospective NYSC members on the Mbaise Road in Imo State has raised fresh concerns about the safety of corps members travelling to orientation camps. The victims were reportedly travelling to camps in Abia, Imo, Enugu and Akwa Ibom when they were taken. Their families are said to have been contacted by the abductors, who allegedly demanded ₦50 million for each person and set a deadline for payment. The incident has renewed calls for stronger security on major routes used by prospective corps members during mobilisation periods.
