Maiduguri Court Jails Woman for Five Years Over Human Trafficking
A High Court in Maiduguri, Borno State, has sentenced 33-year-old Salamatu Saidu to five years’ imprisonment for human trafficking. Presided over by Justice Bukar Umar, the court found Saidu guilty under Section 26(2) of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act, 2015 for organising the fraudulent entry of two adults aged 21 and 33 years. The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) said the conviction highlights its ongoing efforts to combat human trafficking and related crimes across Nigeria.
