Understanding the Book of Revelation: Jesus Wins and God Makes All Things New
The Book of Revelation is traditionally attributed to the Apostle John. It was written around AD 95 during his exile on the island of Patmos, where he received a vision of Jesus Christ. Its central message is that Jesus wins and God will make all things new. The book describes the final conflict between God and Satan, Christ’s return, the judgment of evil, and God dwelling forever with His people in a restored creation. Revelation has 22 chapters and 404 verses. Chapter 1 presents John’s vision of the glorified Christ. Chapters 2 and 3 contain letters to seven churches in Asia Minor, while Chapters 4 to 22 look ahead to final judgment, Christ’s return, and the new heaven and new earth. Although it contains vivid imagery of beasts, judgment and future events, Revelation is ultimately an unveiling of Jesus Christ and the fulfilment of His work to set all things right.
