1 / 2

Commissioner of Police Akaninyene Ezima has assumed office as Director of the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre. He joined the force in 1992 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent and brings over three decades of policing experience to his new role. Ezima built his reputation through key leadership positions. He served as Deputy Commissioner at Zone 17 CID in Akure and led EFCC zonal operations in Ibadan, Lagos, Benin, and Kano. His tenure at the EFCC was noted for impactful anti-corruption efforts. Before this appointment, he oversaw intelligence-driven operations as Commissioner at the Force Intelligence Department Annex in Lagos. He succeeds AIG Uche Ifeanyi Henry, the centre’s pioneer director, who has been redeployed to head Training and Development at force headquarters. In his new role, Ezima will spearhead efforts to strengthen digital security frameworks and boost Nigeria’s capacity to combat emerging cyber threats.
