Maresca Says Fatherhood Has Made Haaland More Complete On and Off the Pitch
Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca says fatherhood has brought a new level of maturity to Erling Haaland, both as a player and as a person. Speaking before City’s Champions League opener against FC Porto, Maresca said Haaland’s priorities changed after he became a father in late 2024. He added that the striker remains one of the club’s top performers despite the demands of family life and football. Haaland has scored three goals in his first three Premier League matches of the 2026/27 season. Maresca also suggested that the forward could be rested soon as club and international fixtures begin to take their toll. “He’s a man now, he’s a dad,” Maresca said. “He was already top as a player and as a boy, but now you can see that he is complete.”
