Exploring the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:1–17)
In Exodus 20:1–17, God gave Moses ten fundamental laws on two stone tablets. These commandments forbid worship of other gods or idols, misuse of God’s name and require keeping the Sabbath day holy. They also call for honouring parents, and prohibit murder, adultery, theft, false testimony and coveting a neighbour’s possessions.
