Veteran Nigerian journalist and former ambassador to Togo, Debo Adesina, is critically ill in a Canadian hospital after reportedly suffering a massive stroke on 9 July 2026. His wife said he spent more than a month in intensive care and is gradually emerging from an induced coma. He has since been moved to a general ward but still requires serious medical attention. The family says his medical bills had exceeded CAD$205,000 as of 24 August and is appealing to friends, colleagues and associates for financial support to sustain his treatment.
