The Battle for Wise Speech: Using Words That Heal, Not Harm
Every believer faces the daily battle of controlling the tongue. Our words can heal or wound, build peace or fuel conflict, and encourage people or leave lasting pain. Scripture teaches that death and life are in the power of the tongue. Wise speech begins with a heart surrendered to Christ. It means thinking before speaking, telling the truth in love, avoiding gossip and insults, keeping confidences, and knowing when silence is better. When anger rises, pause and pray before responding. Listen carefully, avoid needless arguments, apologise when your words cause harm, and use your voice to bless and encourage others. A few careless words can ignite a serious conflict, but a wise tongue can bring peace. Before speaking, ask: Are my words truthful, necessary, timely and helpful?
